- Sunday Night Jam Band - we play the Park without Joe our fiddle player. Nicole Morgan has promised to fill in for him wih a couple of fiddle tunes of her own. Gary wiil just have to sing more! LePage Park is named after Kristine's grandparents - Pauline and Amy 'Happy' LePage where the historic Donnenworth House is located. The LePage family was the last to use the Donnenworth House as a residence, living here from 1963 until 1978. Amy "Happy" LePage and his wife Pauline, operated a network of wood cutting camps along the Yukon River that supplied fuel for the steam-driven sternwheelers until the boats stopped running in the early 1950s. Happy then worked on bridge and air strip construction projects for the Yukon's developing transportation system. He also operated a regional trucking company and the first car wash in Whitehorse.

GARY SOLO PERFORMANCE with students Raymond and Garrett from the Vanier Catholic High School Social Justice Club dressed as UNICEF Boxes. Thanks to Ainsley Kootchin, store manager, for letting us raise money for the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund. I remember canvassing door to door in Welland, Ontario from 1960 to 1967 with a small UNICEF donation box. Now they wear the whole box! The tradition of 'Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF' began in 1950 in the United States, when Philadelphia schoolchildren first went door-to-door at Halloween collecting money in decorated milk cartons to help their global peers.
They raised a grand total of $17, kicking off a campaign that has since brought in millions of dollars each year to help UNICEF provide medicine, better nutrition, safe water, education, emergency relief and other support to children in more than 150 countries.
And millions of children now participate in Halloween-related fund-raising campaigns in the United States, Canada and Hong Kong, China, among other places.

Gary is singing for a literacy project with Grade 2 and 3 students from Elijah Smith Elementary and Takhini School. Unit has been on insects. Songs using onomatopoeia (the abstract Greek noun from onomatopoios "name-maker". This word is a compound composed of onoma(t)- "name" + poiein "to make". Onoma comes from the Proto-Indo-European root (o)nomen- "name" with a fickle initial O that came and went over the course of Indo-European language history for no apparent reason. This word made it to German and English as name and to Russian as im(en)ya. We find a variant, onym in many English words, such as pseudonym (false name), anonymous (nameless), plus synonym, antonym and several others.) Maybe some insect marching songs?
